Even though Pope Francis just got back from his trip to Cuba and the U.S. the Vatican announced it's now organizing another trip:  in 2016, Pope Francis plans to visit Mexico.

'One of the locations he will visit, which is the only one I can confirm at this point, is the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The very heart of Catholicism in Mexico and the Americas.

After Brazil, Mexico is the country with the most Catholics in the world, where there is a strong devotion towards Our Lady of Guadalupe.

At one point, Pope Francis had expressed interest in visiting the border between the U.S. and Mexico. But he said he opted not to, jokingly explaining that visiting Mexico and not praying before the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe would be an insult.

'I would tell everyone to start praying for this Papal trip. It will come at a time when Mexico is going through different social and economic problems.â?

The Vatican has yet to announce the dates and details of the trip, but it has confirmed that concrete steps are being taken to organize the visit. Which cities will be visited is still in the works.

This would be the Pope's first trip to Mexico. Benedict XVI also visited the country during his pontificate, as did John Paul II.
