Cheering crowds were ready to welcome Pope Francis as his plane landed to the Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C.
Local cardinals and bishops were lined up to welcome him. Right off the bat, he heard the cheers from the crowds, ; as he walked down the steps of the papal plane.
Surrounded by secret service agents, the Pope was welcomed by President Obama, the first Lady and their two daughters. After greeting all the delegates, a group of school children gave the Pope a flower arrangement.
Military personnel lined the air base, as Pope Francis walked along with President Obama, to have a private one on one meeting.
Afterwards, there was a dark FIAT waiting for the Pope, ready to take him to the local nunciature where he will be staying.
It was definitely the smallest car, as large SUV's and security trucks surrounded the streets to accompany Pope Francis and to make sure he was safe.
