Inside this Roman building, lies an architectural jewel that's mostly hidden from the rest of the city. In a random summer night, these melodies were played inside.

It's the open courtyard of Rome's Sant' Ivo alla Sapienza church. It's unique design is thanks to Francesco Borromini. A gifted architect whose trademark is Baroque architecture.

This concert is part of a tradition that dates back to 1980. Every summer, the International Ensemble plays here, attracting those lucky enough to know about it.

FRANCESCO CAROTENUTO
Director
'The music sounds great because the acoustics here are incredible.  As far as open courts, I think this is one of the best one's in Rome.â?

GIULIANO BISCEGLIA
Musician
'It's incredible and beautiful. The acoustics sound so incredible here. When I play here the sound of the violin is defined every more. It's performing art within an art structure.â?

Before nightfall the musicians practice to get things just right for the concert. They play all kinds of classics that had stood the test of time, from Johann Strauss to the Beatles.

FRANCESCO CAROTENUTO
Director
'In this show we try to honor all the songs that have left their mark in their own generation.â?

CLAUDIA RAMOUS
Musician
'We've performed here for many years and each year it becomes even more beautiful. This excitement of evoking an emotion in the audience, never goes away.â?

Night after night the music mixes in with the emotion, triggering a classical experience in this Roman courtyard. Not even the sirens and chaos of Rome can overcome the melodies that bounce off these four unique walls.
