Helly Luv has a powerful message, and she wants to be heard. So she's creating profound music, with unique videos, to spread the word.
This video was shot about two miles from Islamic State terrorists. It was dangerous, but Luv wanted to record the video for her song 'Revolutionâ? near the town of Mosul.
Luv is of Kurdish-Iranian origin. As a child, her family had to flee their home. She spent nine months in a Turkish refugee camp. Her family then emigrated to Finland and experienced discrimination, but she found solace and strength in her music.
She often sings about peace, justice, and freedom. And Luv hopes to call attention to the crimes being committed by the Islamic State in her homeland.
The people who appeared in her music video aren't actors. They're actual victims of jihadist atrocities. The video is a tribute to the victims, as well as the Kurdish army that is defending minorities from Islamic State oppression.
Her ultimate goal is to help women who were kidnapped by the terrorists and subsequently escaped. She wants them to recover as best as possible and lead good lives.
