This is how the Jubilee of Mercy's official hymn sounds. It's music that calls for prayer.
The hymn, which is in Latin, starts with the words 'merciful like the father.â? It's inspired by the Gospel and references the Jubilee's official motto.
The first three verses of the song are about the Holy Trinity. The first highlights the wisdom with which God the Father created the world. The second is a song of praise to God the Son, and the third invokes the seven holy gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The hymn ends with a call for peace and hope for the coming of the new heaven and the new earth.
The composer Paul Inwood and the Jesuit Eugenio Costa wrote the hymn. The Sistine Chapel Choir recorded it.
The Year of Mercy will start on December 8th with a Mass and the opening of the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica.
