A new interactive smartphone app enables users to discover a classic painting, along with the secrets of the artist who made it. The app is called 'Fra Angelico â?? Inside the painting.â? It offers a glimpse at the 'Lamentation over the Dead Christâ? exhibit.
An exposition of the Shroud in Turin is now taking place. But alongside that famous artifact is a well-known painting by Fra Angelico, lent from the City of Florence for the occasion. The app comes with audio narration from the priest Timothy Verdon, which includes analysis of the painting.
The app is divided into five sections that explain different aspects of the painting. For example, there is a section on light and colors and one that analyzes the characters in the artwork.
The Shroud and Fra Angelico painting are on display until June 24, in Turin.
The application costs 99 cents and is available in English and Spanish. It can be downloaded for both iOS and Android.
