Pope Francis asked the thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter's Square for the Regina Coeli to participate in the Sacraments so that they can remain close to God.
He said that it lets people receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and makes it so that society can identify them as Christians.

'In fact, one is recognized as a true Christian by this attitude, as a tree is recognized by its fruit. The fruits of this profound union with Christ are wonderful: our whole person is transformed by the grace of the Spirit.â?
The first Sunday of May marked a day of remembrance in Italy for children who are victims of violence. The Pope greeted the organizations working to help those children.

'Thank you for the determination with which you try to prevent these crimes. We must all work for every human person, and children especially must always be defended and protected.â?
There were so many groups represented that Pope Francis was not able to name all of them, as he usually does.

'I greet with affection all of the pilgrims that are present. But really there are too many to name every group! But I at least hope the San Bagio chorus sings a bit.â?
He also mentioned that Luigi Bordino, a lay consecrated person from the Congregation of the Brothers of St. Joseph Benedict Cottolengo, was beatified on Saturday in Turin.
