At the end of his meeting with the Swiss Guard, Pope Francis greeted some of the officer's families. There was an endearing moment when one girl showed the Pope several drawings painted by her and her sisters. ;

For me? Did you make it? ; ;

No. I ... ; ;

Each of them made their own.

It's beautiful. You're good, huh?

The one that's behind is the Pope.

There it is. No. It's horrible, horrible, horrible.

This week, the Swiss Guard honors a deadly battled that took place in May 1527. A total of 147 soldiers died defending Pope Clement VII. ;

Thirty-two new recruits will enter the Guard on May 6th. It is one of the most colorful and unique ceremonies held at the Vatican.
