The West is becoming more and more secularized. Church attendance in the U.S and Europe is in decline, which begs the question, what is the role of the Catholic Church in a secularized age?

Canadian Professor Charles Taylor is author of the book 'A Secular Age.' He is one of many speakers who will take part in a two day conference in Rome's Pontifical Gregorian University, starting on Wednesday March 4th. The goal is to look at how the Church can renew itself and get its message across, amid a secularized world.

The cultural shift isn't unprecedented. It was also seen back in the 60's during the cultural revolution. Most recently, there's also been a social change. Now, technology and social media is also part of the mix.
Experts say, that while young people tend to say they're spiritual and not necessarily religious, they have an underlying theme in common with the Church.

The two day conference, which is part of the Vatican's Court of the Gentiles initiative, will bring together experts from Canada, the U.S the Czech Republic, Belgium, Spain and of course, from the Vatican.
