The Sagrada Familia's Basilica in Barcelona attracts millions of people every year. It's been decades, but the Basilica is not finished yet. The country of Chile, will get to boast otherwise when ;the Gaudi Chapel opens its doors. ;
In the year 2017, the so called 'Gaudi Chapel' will be open to the public in the city of Rancagua, in the south of Santiago de Chile. It will become the first building of the Catalan architect built outside of Spain.
The project was born in 1922, when Friar Angelico Aranda asked Gaudi to design a shrine dedicated to our Lady of Los Angeles in Chile. In exchange, he promised prayers. ;
Gaudi accepted. He desinged a 98 foot high Chapel with similar traits to the Basilica in Barcelona. One of the architect's famous Crosses crowned the building.
The actual construction started in 1996. The Chapel will be part of the Catalonia Park, near Santiago de Chile. ;
