The Pope is getting ready for his yearly spiritual retreat, which will begin on the first Sunday of Lent. As usual, the Pope will take a week long pause to reflect on the Season. ;
The retreat will take place in the Italian town of Ariccia, in the Casa Divin Maestro center, which is about 20 miles south of Rome. He will stay there, along with other members of the Roman Curia, from Sunday the 22nd to Friday the 27th. Last year, roughly 80 Cardinals and Bishops attended. ;
During that week the Pope will clear his schedule. He won't have any official or public meetings until he heads back to Rome. ;
The priest who will be leading the spiritual exercises is Carmelite Bruno Secondin. The focus will include the roots of the Christian faith and the inner strength to live it out consistently. It will also look at embracing an encounter with God and spreading the Gospel. ;
On the morning of Friday 27th, the spiritual retreat will come a close. At roughly midday, the Pope and Roman Curia will make their way back to Rome. ;
