Next to the famous Colonnade in St. Peter's Square, the homeless will now have a place to bathe. Starting on Friday February 6th, these facilities are officially open. ;
The Vatican has installed several bathrooms, complete with showers, sinks and even an area for barbers. The showers have hot water and they will be open every day, except when official celebrations are held in St. Peter's Square. ;
The homeless will receive a hygiene kit, with undergarments, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, a towel, razor and shaving cream. The items have either been donated by institutions or paid for by the Vatican. ;
Volunteers include barbers and hair stylists who will donate their services on Mondays from 9 am to 3pm. Most of them are students in their last year of training. The volunteers also include Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity, who help the poor and needy on a daily basis. ;
