Roughly 100 million people in the world speak Farsi. Now, the Catechism of the Catholic Church can be read in that very language. It's a translation that took 12 years to complete, along with the input of about 1,000 experts.

French Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Vatican's Council for Interreligious Dialogue, presented the book. He hopes this Catechism will improve the coexistence of religions in the Middle East.

The Vatican hopes that the new publication will become a firsthand source of Catholicism in the region. Persian is spoken mainly in Iran and neighboring countries like Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
