Pope Francis remembered all those who suffer persecution in Syria and Iraq, especially Christians and other religious minorities.
He said that a 'negotiated solutionâ? must be found for both countries, and called on Christians to promote peace and justice.
The Pope made this remarks in his address to the members of the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches.
'I pray often for Christians in the Middle East. Especially for those in Egypt, who are under attack since yesterday.â?
During their meeting, the Pope was warmly greeted by the participants. They even gave him an icon of the Holy Family and another that depicted the Holy Spirit.
