They live in Italy, but they represent Italian communities who live in Latin American countries. On Thursday morning, they got to meet Pope Francis in the Vatican.

Italian Senator Claudio Zin led the group. One woman was actually the first person to break the ice.

'I brought you a drawing my niece did. She is 8  years old and she is a diabetic. It includes all the children of the world, asking for your blessing.â?

During the brief meeting, they talked about issues affecting Latin America, like poverty and violence.

They were on their way to the Parliament, just moments before Italy elected its new president. They asked for some advice.

'We are going to the Parliament to choose our next president. Let's hope it all goes well.
'I hope that it doesn't take a lot of time.

Former Italian President Giorgio Napolitano resigned on January 14th. He has a good relationship with Pope Francis. The last time they met, the private meeting lasted roughly one hour and a half.
