It was a harsh Christmas for thousands of displaced Iraqi Christians. With little food and water, they made do, to celebrate the Holiday with a makeshift meal.
Despite the horrible conditions, these refugees are the lucky ones who survived the threats of ISIS. This woman managed to escape, but her daughters were captured by terrorists.

'Many children died from hunger, but that is not as bad as the capturing and raping of our girls. We can overcome almost everything that happened in the genocide, but taking away our girls. That is the most painful thing.â?
Under threats of death or kidnappings, it's estimated that more than 1.8 million people have fled their hometown since the month of June. Kurdish forces have been airlifting some of the refugees from Mt. Sinjar.
In the city of Mosul, more than 1600 Christian refugees are living in an unfinished shopping mall. It has no walls and is heavily flooded.

'If they do get out and they are lucky enough to escape the threat that they have been facing at home then they move into these open unfinished buildings or actual camps and there we are able to reach them and provide them with the food that they need to keep warm and continue to live.â?
Since the rise of ISIS, the UN's World Food Programme has given assistance to roughly 1 million people in Iraq, but the number of refugees is increasing. The WFP plans to reach 1.8 million displaced Iraqis per month by March 2015.
