Pope Francis sent a video message to the participants of the 4th Festival of the Social Doctrine of the Church, which taking place in Verona. He denounced tthat the current economic crisis serves as a pretext for inaction against poverty.

POPE FRANCIS
'The risk is that indifference can make us blind, deaf and mute, existing only for ourselves, with a mirror in front, so we estrange ourselves from what is happening around us. Men and women closed in themselves. There was someone like that who was called Narcissus. Do not go down that path.

The Pope reflected on the current distribution of money. He also lamented that there are resources for some things while there are none for others.

POPE FRANCIS
'For example, the money to buy weapons can be found, to make war, for financial operations without scruples, there is money. There is mainly silence about this. Yet, there is always an emphasis on the lack of money to create jobs, to invest in knowledge, talents, to design a new welfare, to protect the envrionment.

In the face of this situation, Pope Francis asked those present at the festival to promote the initatives and talents of each one, especially for youth.
