RedMadre is a Spanish association that offers support to women who are confronted with an unexpected pregnancy.

One of them is 20 year old Lourdes. She is deaf, and her sister shares her story.

Testimony from RedMadre Foundation
'They told her the baby was unwell, that the best thing would be to get an abortion, but my sister was not convinced. At the clinic, they gave her some information about foundations she could go to for help, and among them was RedMadre. We went there, and they did an ultrasound that confirmed she was three months pregnant. 'Thanks to RedMadre her baby is growing. 'I´m going to be a mother for the first time, and I am very happy.

RedMadre's mission and work is not limited to pregnant women, but rather it goes beyond the pregnancy stage.

RedMadre Foundation
'Many of them arrived with their babies already born because at RedMadre we don´t close the door to anyone. If they come with a born child, there is always a bag of clothes, some diaper package, something to give them. Among the ones who were at risk of getting an abortion, which were about fifteen thousand, eight out of every ten have decided to go on with their pregnancy.

Lourdes' story is just one among these fifteen thousand. Thanks to RedMadre, she didn't feel alone, and was able to begin the most important adventure of her life, which she will share with her son.
