One of the greatest challenges in fighting poverty is world hunger. For years, charitable organizations around the world have worked tirelessly to end it.
Now, Caritas Internationalis is taking a step towards ending world hunger by 2025. From October 12-19, the Catholic charity will launch its 'Food for Allâ? campaign and it has the support from a very familiar person.
POPE FRANCIS
''I was hungry and you gave me something to eat'. The words of Our Lord call to us today, telling us not to turn away, indifferent, when we know our neighbor is hungry.â?
Pope Francis kicked off the campaign by releasing a video message, calling on the faithful to take part.
POPE FRANCIS
'I encourage the faithful to participate in Caritas' 'Food for All' campaign and raise a voice for the hungry, particularly during the Week of Action in October. Thank you very much.â?
Activities sponsored by Caritas will take place in over 50 countries. With an estimated 800 million people going to bed hungry, it will seek to put pressure on governments to ensure the rights of poor farmers and to promote 'safety nets to fight child malnutrition.
