Pope Francis wants all Christians to take an active role in the next Extraordinary Synod of Bishops, which will address the challenges ;families face in modern society.
That's why he will preside over a prayer gathering at St. Peter's Square on Saturday October 4th. ;All Christians are called to pray for the success of the Synod, which will start the following day on the 5th. ;
Also, Pope Francis will deliver his first public speech on the Synod. ;
The Synod is an international gathering of bishops that represent their local churches. Usually, the Pope calls on them to discuss a topic. The Pope called for this extraordinary synod to discuss the family. It will take place from October 5th to the 19th. More than 250 Bishops are expected to attend, along with 14 married couples and 114 Presidents of Bishops Conferences. ;
They will all participate in the prayer gathering on October 4 in St. Peter's Square.
