The Former leader of the Democratic Unionist Party in Northern Ireland, ;has died at the age of 88. ;
Known for his explosive personality and often aggressive style, Ian Paisley was polarizing figure in politics and religion. ;
He aggressively and publicly criticized the Catholic Church. In fact, in 1988, during John Paul II's address before the European Parliament, he started yelling anti-Catholic remarks, before being escorted out. ;
As years passed, his staunch stance against the Church began to dwindled and he actually made a turn around. ;In 2007 he joined an agreement with the Catholic-led political party of the outlawed militant Irish Republican Army. ;
Paisley, who suffered from heart problems, died in Belfast. ;
