Italian Cardinal Paolo Sardi turned 80 years old today, reducing the number of cardinal electors to 115. ;

The cardinal is the patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. ;

He was created a cardinal by Benedict XVI on November 20, 2010 and participated in the Conclave that elected Pope Francis.

He also served as the Vice Chamberlain and was one of the authors and revisers of Benedict XVI's addresses. ;

Cardinal Paolo Sardi will now pass to the group of cardinals non electors, who are 95 for a total of 210 in the College of Cardinals. ;
