Pope Francis has repeatedly asked the international community to put an end to human trafficking. Now the Vatican has announced the theme of his message for the next World Day of Peace. It's: 'Slaves no more, but brothers and sisters.â?
In a statement, the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace highlighted that modern slavery includes 'human trafficking of migrants and prostitutes, exploitation, slave labor.â?
To fight this 'social plague' the document states that recognizing the dignity of all people, comes first.
This will be the Pope's second World Day of Peace, since becoming Pontiff.
Paul VI was the first Pope to celebrate the World Day of Peace back in the 60's. It takes annually on new year's.
