St. Peter's Square was full of pilgrims as the Pope led the Angelus on Sunday afternoon.
The Pope talked about faith. He explained that Jesus built His Church on St. Peter because his faith was as strong as a rock. The Pope then challenged all Christians with a simple question.
POPE FRANCIS
'How is your faith? What's it like? What does the Lord find in our hearts? A firm heart, like a rock, or one that's like sand, doubtful, wary, incredulous?â?
He then explained that it's a question Jesus asks all Christians, since a Church, he said, is built precisely on faith.
POPE FRANCIS
'If the Lord finds in our hearts, not necessarily a perfect faith, but a sincere and genuine faith, He also sees in us living rocks on which He can build His community on.â?
Sunday marked Ukraine's Independence Day. In light of the instability the country is going through, the Pope called for prayers.
POPE FRANCIS
'We pray for the sons and daughters, who yearn for peace and tranquility, as they're threatened by a situation of tension and conflict that continues unabated, causing so much suffering among the civilian population.â?
Towards the end, the Pope also greeted hundreds of youths who made their way to Rome after visiting Assisi. Their yellow t shirts made it easy for the Pope to spot them.
