It's no secret that Pope Francis likes to make phone calls. Shortly after his election, he canceled his newspaper subscription by phone. On many other occasions, he has been known to call people who have written to him.

His latest call was to the sisters of the Discalced Carmelite community of Lucena. In fact, this is the second time the Pope has called the monastery located in Cordoba, Spain.

The first call he made on New Year's Eve received worldwide attention when he left a voicemail message.

POPE FRANCIS
'What are the nuns doing that they can't answer the phone? I am Pope Francis, I wish to greet you as the year comes to a close. I'll see if I can call you back later. May God bless you.

This time, the Sisters were there to answer his phone call on Saturday afternoon. The Pope expressed his 'affection, closeness, and loving remembranceâ? to the cloistered community as well as to the town of Lucena, where it is located.

Pope Francis has kept in touch with the Carmelite community for 15 years. Three of the nuns are from the Pope's native Argentina.
