With the Pope's visit to South Korea about three weeks away, the country's central bank released the designs of two specially made coins to commemorate his visit.
Pope Francis will travel to South Korea from August 14-18, to participate in Asian Youth Day. The Bank of Korea will issue 30,000 silver coins, worth about $48 each.
The coins will feature a dove carrying an olive branch, and a series of crosses making up the 'taegeuk,â? the circular symbol found in the country's flag. The other side will include the Pope's coat of arms.
Meanwhile, the brass coins, with a value of about $10, will feature a cross made of several plants, with the country's national flower in the middle. The bank will make about 60,000 brass coins available.
In addition to meeting with youth, the Vatican said the Pope will beatify 124 Korean martyrs, and preside a Mass for peace and reconciliation.
