The Pope's most popular tweet is from Easter 2014, and only four words long. It was retweeted 39,400 times, and favorited 36,000 times.
The popularity Pope Francis enjoys developed the day of his election. So it's no surprise that second on the list, is his first ever tweet, with just under 36,000 retweets. He thanked everyone for their support and asked for prayers.
A few days later, he took his message about a poor Church for the poor, online. In speaking about the 'true powerâ? of service, he said that the Church's role in helping 'the poor, the weak, the vulnerable.â? It had 24,700 retweets.
Pope Francis constantly uses his Twitter profile to denounce themes related to the 'throw-away culture,â? or the 'globalization of indifference.â? His message asking for prayers for typhoon victims in the Philippines was retweeted by 34,000 followers.
The Pope also has a special place for young people, and often issues tweets directed to them. He asks them to trust in God, or to trust in their God-given talents, in pushing forward in life. They respond with thousands of retweets.
Lastly, among his top tweets, users will also find many references to sports, including this past World Cup, or to the responsibilities facing world leaders. And of course, his signature request, 'Please pray for me,â? is along among the most popular.
