It was exactly a year ago that Pope Francis traveled to Brazil to lead World Youth Day. More than 3 million people from 175 countries welcomed him.
It was the Pope's first international trip and the eyes of the world were on him. He carried his own suitcase abroad the plane and he got emotional after praying at the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. He also explained what he wants from the youth and from the Church.

'I want action! I know there will be an uproar here- That's a given. Same goes for Rio, there will be action! I want trouble in dioceses, I want our Church to go out to the street, with the people.â?
While visiting a local slum, the Pope once again lashed out against a throw away culture.
Perhaps the one event that marked the entire trip was the Vigil in Copacabana beach, with millions in attendance. In a country where soccer is more than just a sport, the Pope explained that following Jesus is even better than winning the World Cup. He also called on the youth, to actively live life.

'I'm asking you to build your future. Take an active role in making a better world. Dear friends, please do not see life from afar. Live it! Live life. Jesus didn't let life pass by, He lived it. Don't be a spectator of life. Live it just like Jesus did.â?
In the month of August, the Pope will travel to South Korea for Asian Youth Day. His next meeting with youths from all over the world, will be in 2016.
