The Vatican's Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, will travel to Mexico to discuss the wave of massive immigration from Latin American countries to the U.S. ;

Officials from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and of course Mexico, will join in to address the issue and to see what can be done to strengthen their international cooperation. ;

Mexico's Secretary of Exterior Relations, Jose Antonio Meade Kuribreña, will welcome Cardinal Parolin to the forum. Discussion points will include the problems that trigger massive immigration in the first place, the protection of migrants and what protocols should be taken when deported. ;

The issue of course isn't new, but recently it has gotten some steam for the rising number of unaccompanied children, most of them from Central America, who've headed north, in the hopes of making it to the United States. ;

It's estimated that over the last year, more than 50,000 children have been detained in the U.S alone, for crossing the border illegally.
;
Parolin will also be presented with an 'Aguila Azteca' recognition. It's a high honor, given to foreigners who have promoted social improvements in Mexico. ;

The forum will take place on Monday July 14th and on Tuesday, July 15th, Parolin, who speaks Spanish fluently, ;is scheduled to celebrate Mass in Mexico City's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is the most visited Marian shrine in the world, with Mexican Archbishop, Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera. ;
