After lashing out against the mafia in Calabria, the Pope expressed strong words against torture.
POPE FRANCIS
'Torturing people is a mortal sin. It's a very serious sin.â?
June 26th is the UN's International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. The Pope called on Christians to do their party in condemning all types of torture.
POPE FRANCIS
'I invite all Christians to engage and collaborate in abolishing torture and to support victims and their families.â?
Before thousands of people in St. Peter's Square, the Pope also talked about the power of the Eucharist.
POPE FRANCIS
'The Eucharist makes a Christian lifestyle mature. The charity of Christ, when embraced with an open heart, changes us. It allows us to love beyond our human limitations, opening us to the depths of God.â?
God's love, said the Pope, doesn't have limits. He then explained that one must follow the example Jesus set through the Eucharist, offering daily nourishment, even for those who don't appreciate it.
