June 20, 2014. The Vatican's International Theological Commission released ;a new document ;at the end of their 85th session, to talk about the role of sensus fidei in the Church. This term is used to describe the people's collective ability to discern how the Gospel applies to their lives. The document's release coincides with the survey sent to episcopal conference on the upcoming Synod of the Family. The text focuses on ways to identify 'authentic' contributions to sensus fidei, using two criteria: conformity to the apostolic tradition, and active participation in the life of the Church.
