(-VIDEO ONLY-) Pope Francis kicked off the procession through the streets of Rome to mark the Feast of Corpus Christi.

It began outside the Basilica of St. John Lateran, where the Pope celebrated Mass. However, Pope Francis skipped out on the procession in order to save his energy for an upcoming apostolic trip to Calabria.

As thousands of people snaked their way through Via Merulana, the Pope rode a covered car to the Basilica of St. Mary Major. Once the procession ended at the basilica in Rome's center, the Pope blessed all the people in attendance.
