Islamic extremists have taken over Iraq's second largest city, forcing over 150,000 people to flee from Mosul. Among the refugees there are roughly 1,000 Christian families who have left their homes and villages all together. ;
The attack was carried by members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) who used force and violence to overcome opponents. Thousands of armed men have reportedly killed adults and children, leaving their lifeless bodies out on the street. Schools and businesses have also been attacked. ;At least two Christian churches have been destroyed by the group, including the Mar Behnam monastery, which dates back to the 4th century. ;
The country's parliament has declared a State of Emergency in the area, but the tension seems far from over: The Prime Minister is asking Iraqis to volunteer and take up arms against this group. ;
