More than 2,300 miles separate Rome and the Kingdom of Bahrain. But distance was no obstacle for these 29 pilgrims that made it to the Pope's General Audience.
Their King visited Pope Francis a few weeks ago and gave him a replica of a Catholic church that will be built in Bahrain, the biggest in all the Arab Peninsula. The majority of its population is Muslim, but there's a certain religious freedom.
'There are a lot of Catholics, Christians, Roman Catholics, Protestants, all other. And his Majesty has given freedom for everybody to practice their religion.â?
It's their first time visiting Europe and are delighted with Rome. Understanding Pope Francis wasn't easy, but they leave St. Peter's happy anyway.
'Well a little in English but we don't understand the other languages so we don't know as much.â?
The pilgrims of Bahrain joined a group of people from the Philippines, India and the Seychelles.
With their visit to see Pope Francis and the Vatican, they checked off the first stop on their trip: the rest of Europe awaits them now! But before leaving, they showed Pope Francis all their love.
