Cardinal Angelo Scola worked very closely with John Paul II. For some time, he directed the Anthropology department at the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for studies on marriage and family. All of his experience within this field can be found within his book, 'The Nuptial Mystery.â?
CARD. ANGELO SCOLA
'This book develops, articulately and cohesively, the topic of sexual differences, the topic of their relationships to each other, and fertility, showing that these three aspects, in looking out for humanity's well-being and the beauty of love, cannot be separated. Even though science and technology today have found a way to separate them.â?
For the first time, the writings from the Archbishop of Milan can be found within one book. It allows readers to reflect on the origin and importance of marriage.
CARD. ANGELO SCOLA
'Marriage is not in crisis today. What's under crisis is the deep understanding of who humankind is. What's needed is to give patient testimony. There are fantastic marriages. One of the most beautiful things that have happened to me, since I became bishop and visit parishes, is that near the end elderly couples come up to me and say: 'We've been married for 50 years... 70 years...' Always with a smile. People don't know what they're missing out on.â?
The texts written by Cardinal Scola have been so well received that they are in their third edition. The Italian prelate said he gathered enough material to publish a second volume. He said it's important that youth are properly educated so that they can overcome confusion regarding the full meaning of love.
