On Sunday, May 11, Pope Francis will preside over the ceremony to ordain 13 priests as deacons. The celebration will take place at 9:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Basilica. ;
The new deacons come from several countries, including Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Vietnam and Pakistan. The priests are between 27 and 42 years old.
The ordination ceremony has become a part of tradition at the Vatican. It started with John Paul II in 1993, and takes place each year, on the fourth Sunday of Easter, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.
