Pope Francis welcomed Angola's president, José Eduardo dos Santos, to the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.

In their brief meeting they talked about Church contributions in areas like health and education in Angola.

Other topics like poverty, social inequality, reconciliation, justice and peace were also discussed. Especially when it comes to conflict ridden areas that can destabilize the situation in Africa.

Then the president of Angola introduced his delegation to the Pope.

'This is my personal doctor.â?
'Take good care of him.

Later on, they also exchanged gifts. The Pope gave the president an engraved Angel of Peace and a copy of his Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium, in Portuguese.

The president gave the Pope a sculpture.

'It's very beautiful. Thank you very much. It's a typical Angolan sculpture.â?

Before saying goodbye, the president made one last, but important request to Pope Francis.

'Your Holiness, one last request. We only have one cardinal.
'I'll keep it in mind. Pray for me.
